Well, this will be my last blog before our project finishes up, so I'll just talk about some ups and downs in this project. It was very fun making these blogs. While I was not able to to go and help out, I was able to make our website look more professional. On top of that, Kamakana says that we were a big help. Hopefully in the future, we may help them out again, this time on our own free will. See ya later!
While I may not have been able to go, this means that I will need to work hard on getting our website up to date. Kamakana will be the one to help out since he is the closest one to the chapel. I will continue to work on completing the website and making it look more professional. We are also working on completing our slideshow and pamphlet. it should be finished by the end of the week so that we''ll have time to present it to our peers next week.

While I was not able to go and help out, Kamakana successfully helped them set up for mass. It sounded like it went well, and he says he will help them out more on Saturday. We made the decision that I will be the one to take care of the website while he will get the job done. It was really easy helping up set up for mass. If there were more people who took action and found out how easy it is, then they would be able to set up more faster. All right, time for another question!
What were/are the challenges you face in completing this project? Some challenges we may face in this project is the church cancelling our services. not being able to go to the chapel, and Judgement Day. JKJK. Or am I? In all seriousness, as long as the church had not cancelled our day to help, then Kamakana would have had no pictures to showcase for our project. You may be wondering why this and the three blogs I posted before this all say they were uploaded on May 4. That was because I deleted them. I really don't know how I did that, but at least I was able to remember what I wrote on them. Most of it :/ Well, I also noticed that I did not update my blog or website, so no one saw my posts. Oh, well. One more thing. This Sunday, we are finally going to be helping out the Chapel set up! Well, if my dad even lets me. Hopefully my dad will be willing to drop me off there on Sunday. Welp, I got to go. It's time for another question of the day!
How can we learn more about the church that we are helping? Why do they need assistance setting up? What is it used for? Why is this important to people? We can learn more about the church by simply asking the people who work at the chapel. Because of low staff, they are in dire need of help to set up. It takes them a while to set up before mass, which is important for the people praising God. We are delaying the praise of God, which means less time to worship Him. Well, just updating this page for now. There's really nothing to talk about right now. We are just waiting for our time to help out. I guess I'll just talk about absolute nothing. Well, actually, I was able to make our website look much cooler than before. I thought it already looked cool, but that was the default look. I had to spice up the look of our website. I think I might continue to experiment the look of it until I decide on one final look. Are you ready for another question?
Is there anything that will prevent us helping out a certain church? The main and only problem there is is if they give is permission to help out. Like I said in a previous question, the church we plan to help welcomes people to come help. But that may not be for other churches. We will need to double check with other churches if they need help or not. Like it says in the Updates and Progress page, me and Kamakana are trying to schedule in a time with the AMR Chapel so that we are able to help them out. Even thought they need help with setting up, they still need people to schedule a time as if there are other people who help out. Well, at least I'm glad that there MIGHT be people out there who want to help out the Chapel. Now it's question time!
Do we have to bring any supplies in order to help set up, or will we be provided with whatever we need? After cooperating with the chapel, we found out that we do not need to bring anything to help set up. They have everything they need in order to set up for mass. This means we just have to show up with ourselves and probably some personal items. Finally started working on my Weebly website. It's on the default website, so hopefully I'll change how it looks this week or the next. Me and Kamakana were able to check out the AMR Chapel, and we also found information about them to put on the website. With our plan all figured out, I hope that everything goes smoothly. I will now answer a question from my action plan. I will be doing this on every update.
Will we need to get permission from the church in order to help them out? The chapel we are helping out with, AMR, is allowing us to help set up without special permissions, so not for this one. On the other hand, if you want to help out other churches, there may be a chance that they need permission, so it would be wise to check with the church you want to help. |
AuthorWelcome to my blog! My name is Kaliko Orta, and I go to Kamehameha Schools in Hawaii. I wanted to help out the AMR Chapel located in our community with my good ol' buddy Kamakana. I believe in God, and if I am able to help out this chapel, it will help to show that I am dedicated to Him. He is the one who watches over us, and even though it does not seem like much help, it will make a huge impact on a smaller group of people. |
